You have started a website but would like to know how to make online sales? Here is my standard answer do not become a salesman! Offline I am a “Salesman” but the number one reason I make a living selling stuff is trying not to sell anyone anything.
You might be saying what the hell is this guy talking about? The only thing you should do is ask folks if they need help. If you don’t have the answer your chances of getting a sale are minimal.
You should never, ever tell them this is what you need or purchase this and you will get exactly what you want. The last thing you want is to become a hard-ass high pressure salesman.
What does work is to know your products inside and out. The majority of customers want the answer to their problem. How can I look better? Which products are right for me? Will this really work? If you know your product you can answer these questions and bam you’ve got the sale. It does not matter if it is a tangible, digital, e-book or service it basically works the same.
So now…how does this translate into making sales online? Easy you write useful unique content about your products. It could be about an affiliate product but it is important that you yourself have bought and used it. Otherwise you will not be able to tell others why it worked.
One of the challenges that people have when starting a new online business is getting traffic to their website. Without traffic you will not be able to make sales online.
How to make online sales tips below.
- Write great useful unique content on your website. The best way to write is to be your self. Search engine robots will crawl all websites on a frequent basis. I would say about 2-3 times per week. This is the pattern I get on my own websites. These search engine crawlers are looking for sites with fresh and new content. It is therefore important for you to have fresh and high quality content which will get your website quickly indexed by search engines.
- It is important that you have you relevant keywords and phrases that relate to your topic on your web pages. Write naturally about your products or service. Use your keywords in the title tag and sparingly throughout the page. This will increase your website ranking. You will therefore get many visitors coming to your site via the search engines. When people visit your website, the high quality content you have will make people spend more time on your site and ultimately buy some of the products or services you offer on your site.
- The only search engines you need to submit to are Google, Yahoo and MSN (now Bing). Submitting your URL to the search engines is an important step towards getting more visitors because it means your website will be visible from search engines. Having your website URL on search engines means that when people look for information relating to your topic on these search engines, they will find your website.
- You need lots of good back links and one of the best ways is to ask or email other websites owners in your niche that at least a page rank of 1 or higher. Exchanging links with popular and related websites is an effective way to drive traffic to your website, and improve the raking of your site. You will get some traffic coming to your website through other websites that you have linked to.
Remember to do your best to not sell anything online. But by writing and developing useful content that your website visitor wants you will soon realize that people will visit and stay a whole lot longer. The chances are also great that they will tell others about your great content. Making sales online is really easy if you follow these steps and you will soon see an increase in traffic to your website which will mean a lot of sales and online profits for your internet business!
