Looking to start your own website

Thanks for visiting our website

Building my first website was a big learning experience. I had no idea about HTML, FTP, templates and website traffic.  I was thinking make a website and start making big money.  This should be easy…man was I naive.

In early 2001 I made a couple of bad looking websites using free services.  I did everything wrong spent big bucks on the wrong type of online advertising.  Used safelists but realized I had to get tons of traffic before this would work.  Tried and spent lots of money on traffic exchanges for traffic.  This too pretty much failed.  Dabbled in ezine advertising with “The Cookie Cutter”.  If you’ve been doing Internet Marketing since 2001 you probably know this great catchy sales copy” “This dumb little ad spits out $20.00″ or the really catchy “THIS DUMB LITTLE AD Can Put $200 in cash in your mailbox… EVERYDAY!”

This was my first real introduction to Internet Marketing it really did work. I made some money but spent alot more promoting it.  I was still in the “poor house”.

It wasn’t until my brother wanted a website to promote his offline gardening retail store did I finally decide to make a real honest reputable website.  I read every online forum, ebook, website on what I needed to make this website successful.  I must have downloaded hundreds of SEO and traffic generating ebooks.

My biggest concern was content…what type of content should I use?  This is when it hit me like a big overhand right from Mike Tyson.  Use good original content that is already stored inside my brain.  Yea…I’ve have tons of gardening information that I gave out freely to customers at my brother’s retail store.

Wow…this really worked.  All I did was add this information to hundreds of webpages did some SEO and wrote a few articles.  I added the adsense code and other affiliate links to our pages and we slowly started to see our traffic rise and our revenue started pouring in.  You can see the website in question right here: guzmansgreenhouse.com

I hate Internet Marketing Hype with a passion.  So I make this as simle as I possibly can. If you want to succeed with your own website or marketing efforts do your best to avoid hype. You do NOT need 90% percent of what all those online Guru’s tell you.

How to make your website search engine friendly

Posted by guzie on September 21, 2009 under Internet Marketing | Be the First to Comment

SEO Images How to make your website search engine friendlyMany Internet Marketing experts talk about making your website or blog search engine friendly. They write or have videos about algorithms, meta tags, keyword density and getting your site listed on the first page for your chosen keywords.

If you are a complete newbie you should know that SEO is what most website developers stress. You will need meta tags, keywords,  keyword density, heading tags and adding your keywords throughout your website. And hopefully your website will get top rankings. Of course this is what all online marketers want including myself.

SEO works well but until recently I’ve been reading about something that will totally blow away about SEO. Many of you already know what it is but I will give you a layman’s term on how and what all the talk and writing is about.

It is called LSI or latent semantic indexing. If you Google LSI or latent semantic indexing you will get websites, forums and blogs that try to describe what this new way of pleasing the search engines is all about.  These websites do a poor job of trying to explain what it means or what it will do to your online internet marketing efforts.

This is what it all boils down to. If a person searches for say “dog training” you know the document you have found is about dog training. Humans can understand this but search engines will have a harder time trying to figure out if you are looking for how to train your dog  or free dog training books.  You will need to add other words that relate to”dog training” such as pet training, how to train canines etc…

With semantic indexing or analysis it can now figure out that you are now looking for “dog training” if the website or document you are reading is indeed about dog training.  This is pretty simple and basic and is the wave of the future.

What really matters is that you should now worry less about algorithms, keyword density and start developing, writing and blogging with your own natural ability.  Use other words that pertain to your posts, website or blog.  The search engines are now looking for that natural flow of writing and posting this is the way it should have been all along.

Google is already implemeting this new SEO into their algorithms other search engines will will follow soon.

online scams image internet marketing scamsHere are a few “Internet Marketing Scams” I know you have have tried!

    1. Ponzi Schemes
    2. MLM rip-off
    3. Get paid to surf
    4. Get paid to Click
    5. Get paid to search
    6. Get paid doing nothing
    7. Google Cash Cow
    8. Get paid to read emails

Those are only a few scam emails I get on a daily basis…I bet you do too. Everybody wants to make make tons of cash in no time flat.

Thousands of online marketing Gurus will give you a guarantee that you’ll make thousands within 90 days or you can have your money back.  Ain’t gonna happen.   And getting your money back is a real pain in the back side.

Any omnline business venture is a lot like the offline marketing world.  You will have good, bad and ugly folks and many will only care about themselves.   There are millions of people with nothing better to do except find ways to rip-off or destroy someone’s dream of becoming successful online.

There are legitimate programs out there that teach you have to have a  lucrative online business.   But these are in the minority and are much harder to find.

Researching the right online business is a big must if you want to become successful.    It can be as easy as “googling” the company, name or opportunity for further information.  Calling your local better business bureau can also help remove some of your fears.

Also beware that some “scam informational” type of websites are also indeed scams themselves.  The Internet is a very dangerous place to be.

The sad thing is that folks with little or no money are the ones who are usually scammed.  They are desperately looking for ways to generate tons of cash fast.

Here if my advice on avoiding online scam artists. Research, research more and use your own common sense.  If it’s too good to be true it is probably an internet marketing scam.

How to analyze your website visitors for more traffic

Posted by guzie on September 15, 2009 under Internet Marketing | Be the First to Comment

    Analyze website traffic

    Analyze website traffic

Are you a newbie marketer perhaps an intermediate or advanced online Guru?  Don’t matter to me here are some good tips on website traffic.  I’ll write it down as simple and as I possibly can…without website traffic there is no money. Even if you do not want to profit with your website and want it purely for informational purposes what good is it if no one will find it!

Organic and paid traffic can be generated or increased by including your web site in the top directories, search engines, article directories, authority blogs and press releases.  In order for the search engines to properly index your web site and perform what is called a “deep crawl,” the construction of your website needs to be obstacle free.

Make sure your site has meta-tags (yes they are still are used by the search engines).   Websites that have too many missing links or data that has not been recently updated could give the Google bot and other search engine robots a red flag indicating that your pages are old or not relevant anymore.  If you have a self designed website, make sure you keep the directory structure simple and not too deep. The fewer directories you have to crawl will make the job much easier for the search engines bots. Everyone knows the K.I.S.S. method remember it when designing your website.

Find out which pages visitors usually enter your web site through so you can include more initial information on your site’s products and services. Analyze other useful information from reports about website visitors including their countries, browsers, languages, operating systems, IP addresses as well as number of repeated visitors. It is essential that you know where your website visitors are coming from. Use Google analytics to analyze your website visitors. Google Analytics is a brilliant and free web traffic analyzation tool. It can give you detailed, business-oriented data about your site’s visitors through a powerful web-based user interface. The more you know about your business website visitors the easier it will be to do SEO for that particular page or pages. Google Analytics is free to anyone who desires to know more about their website traffic or visitors.

It is also a powerful internet resource that allows website owners to track things like their page views, unique visitors, and entrance keywords. Google Analytics is a “cookie-based” (as opposed to a web analytics tool that analyzes log files) program. It will also help you become aware of the online marketing projects which are more cost effective.

For many online businesses Google Analytics is their primary tracking resource. It is free and can quickly turn your online business into a profitable venture.

Analyzing website traffic statistics is an invaluable tool for a number of different reasons.  And one of them is studying your own Website Traffic.    Analyzing website traffic is as important as bringing quality visitors to your websites.

It is particularly important if you are investing the huge sums of money in online marketing. The complete report and analytics will help you to make sound decisions about what’s to change on your website and how to attract new customers.

How to instantly become an online millionaire

Posted by guzie on under Internet Marketing | Be the First to Comment

    Become Rich Overnight

    Become Rich Overnight

    Become Rich Overnight

Millions of people with websites or blogs are desperately looking for ways to profit online. Most of these wannabe millionaires are going about it the wrong way.  What follows is what most newbie internet marketing people do.

    1. Purchase a pre-made website that claims they will make millions or thousands in a few weeks or even months.  Of course the only person who visits this website is him or herself.
    2. They start searching for that magic wand that will suddenly make their website or blog appear on all the search engines for their keywords without any effort on their part whatsoever.
    3. They go into denial thinking eventually I’ll get customers or people visiting my website. It never happens and apathy, negativity, and the feeling of failure slowly creeps in.
    4. Some continue spending thousands on worthless submission services or other get rich quick schemes designed to prey on those who are still hanging on to that “magic wand” theory.
    5. They finally give up saying to them selves “Nothing works the internet is a total waste of time”!

The strange thing is that all these people need to do is become passionate about what they needs to be done to become successful.

Here is what should be done first.

Purchase a domain name and webhosting so they are in charge not the owners of the pre-made website that gives out false promises.

Get a good working knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, FTP and a few others.

Design and build a website about what you know.  Or pay a reputable design person or service that will do this for you.  Everyone knows something from the 9th grade geeky kid who can fix your algebra problems to grandma who knows how to knit a blanket in a couple of hours.

Purchasing books, joining forums, membership sites, and down loading  a gazillion ebooks without ever actually reading them is pointless. You’ve got to read and participate in order to profit with your own niche marketing ideas.

I personally know many individuals who spend thousands of dollars on building and designing a great looking website and never take steps to improve, advertise or make an honest effort to make it better as time goes on.

If you really want to profit with your website or blog you will have to continuously update, edit, research and find ways to get more traffic and visitors that will eventually like what you have to offer.

Many are looking for that magic pill that will instantly make them rich. Let me make this perfectly clear…there is no magic script, website, program or wand that will suddenly make you rich beyond your wildest dreams.   I really don’t which Guru’s claims they will.   Believe me it won’t happen…and definitely not in 2 days.
You can become rich but only if you become hands-on or proactive. There is no short cut only good unique content, continuous researching and persistence with whatever it is you are selling or hoping to achieve.

Search Engine Optimization Tips for Beginners

But first what are Search Engines?

    Search Engine Optimization

    Search Engine Optimization

Search engines are actually robots or as others call them bots. They are programs or applications that crawl or dig through new and old Web Sites, links and blogs. They look for new sites that have documents. They search these documents posted on the Internet for relevant keywords and they will compile a list of URLs or web addresses for the documents containing keywords that are relevant to those sites, blogs, etc…

Many search engines track down the keywords and keyword phrases your site uses and how they are used. If you are looking to get top search engine rankings I highly recommend you start writing or developing your website or blog using keywords that are relevant to the search engines. This may sound complicated but it is not read on.

For example if your websites is about racing cars you need to stop using “racing cars” on every other sentence or paragraph.  Instead concentrate on good unique content and use other words that pertain to racing cars.

For instance: automobiles, speed, fast, driving fast and other keywords the search engines will think are relevant to “racing cars”. This is also called “Latent Semantic Indexing”. But it is really just fancy wording for “write unique content that will please the search engines”! Google should have implemented this Philosophy from the get go!   The only Search Engines I would worry about are Google, Yahoo and MSN the rest are small fish in the sea.

Simply put Search Optimization for the newbie needs ”Good Original Content”.  Make your blog unique and write quality stuff.  Stop worrying about keyword density and concentrate on making your visitors want to read your blog or website pages.

You can submit your website to the Top search engines right here.  Get Traffic with the search engines

How to write articles for profit

Posted by guzie on under Internet Marketing | Be the First to Comment

writing article How to write articles for profitLearn to write articles for money.

Now days it is a lot easier to write articles. And if you are seeking ways promote your website or blog this is by far the easiest way to get started. It only cost your time but requires no money.  I call this “poor man’s marketing plan”.

Before Al Gore invented the Internet writers would use a typewriter to publish articles or books. They would feverishly type the subject matter and clank away. If they needed to start over or didn’t like the page they would simply turn the roller and zip out the paper, crunch it up and shoot the wad of paper into the nearby trash can.

Now days you just turn the computer on and use your favorite editor and type away. If the article page isn’t to your liking you can hit the delete key or re-edit over and over until it is just right. Man I love technology don’t you?

There are no excuses for not writing articles. Always write about your passion your knowledge and what you want to convey to your visitors, customers, friends and colleagues. Always write naturally and above all be yourself.  This is called Niche Marketing and can be used to help you make money with your own product or as an affiliate.

Be Yourself when writing you own articles.

You do not have to be a Rhodes scholar to write articles now days. You only need basic English, grammar, spelling and punctuation. Did you know most Internet readers read at the 8th grade level….yea this is an amazing statistic. If you don’t believe me just Google “reading level of American audience” and you will see a list of websites that make my point.

The most important part about writing is the same as public speaking. Be yourself…just write as if you were speaking to me directly. Try to add some humor in your writing and don’t just write crap. Write what your website or blog is about be passionate and above all have fun writing.

If you develop writers block sit in front of your computer and start typing away.  Even if you start with jibberish you will eventually get new ideas.  And your typing will start to make sense.

Writing articles can sometimes be a bit intimidating. All kinds of questions can creep up in your mind. What if nobody likes them? It’s embarrassing if someone reads my writing?  Do NOT let these negatives feeling get in your way.  The more you write the better your writing will get.

Here are a few tips that have me profit from my own article writing.

    1. Write your article then leave for a couple of hours. Come back and re-read again. You will probably find mistakes or make corrections.
    2. Use a spell-checker or Google “Spell Checkers”. Use you word processor’s spell checker.
    3. Do your best to develop your own style…don’t try to be “Ernest Hemingway”.
    4. Don’t be afraid about what others might say. The more you practice writing the better you’ll get.
    5. The subject matter should always be what you are passionate about.
    6. Reseach your subject matter. It could be as simple as googling your keywords.
    7. Never copy someone else’s work…you can get ideas or spin the article into your own version.
    8. Submit your article to the top article directories.  http://www.goodcontentwebsites.com/top-ten-article-submitters.htm
    9. Be sure to add your bio in the author’s section. Here is a good example:  Joe Schmoe Invites you to signup for his free report “how get the perfect garden” by visiting www.gardensqueezepage.com (made up url).

How to start making income with a free blog

blogimage1 How to start making income with a free blogMaking Money with a free blog platform

Starting a profitable website will take time and you will have to fork out some money to continue making money.  You’ve got to spend money to make money.  But you only need a very small amount of money compared to the offline world.

If you really would like to start making an income with almost nothing I highly suggest starting a blog specifically the blogger.com free blog platform.  Signup here: blogger.com.  The most important part is your display name.  Use a good name that will coincide with your niche and with keyword SEO.  Here is an example of my gardening blog: http://guzmansgreenhouse.blogspot.com/

Notice I have greenhouse as part of the display name.  This helps with keyword optimization. If want to start a blog about video games you might try videogamesnow.  Blogger.com will turn it into http://videogamesnow.blogspot.com .  Be sure to add your adsense code into the layout…then page elements and finally click on the add a gadget link.

Blogger now has a monetize tab that will show you where to place your adsense ads.  Just click on settings then monetize.

This will ad the adsense code into the right side of your template or into each post. It’s up to you where you want them.  Once done start posting or blogging about your experiences on the niche you have chosen.

The most important part of blogging is your content. You’ve got to have good original content without it you will run out of  ideas.  You can outsource content (pay someone to write it for your) by visiting this link. Paying for content

Here are some tips on optimiziation your blogger blog.

    1. Use long tail keywords in the title of your blog.  Instead of “dog training” you might try “How to train your dog the easy way” Or “The smart way to train your pet”.  Google loves blogger.com and your posts will get indexed alot faster and easier than a regular website.
    2. Link to other liked minded blogs by posting your comments on their blog.  Be sure to add a legitimate comment not some b.s. comment like “good post and information”.
    3. If you really like some else’s blog add it to your blog by using the add a gadget link.
    4. Post reguarly…at least once per day.

You will make money…no you will not have money spewing out of your computer screen but you can make a good second income maybe someday a full time income.

    Thanks from Paul Guzman
